Extant Outbreak [legacy build]

Extant Outbreak is a top-down wave-survival shooter where you survive indefinitely against hordes of dinosaurs, with a focus on satisfying skill-rewarding gameplay. Genetically enhance yourself (or your biomechanical firearm) with the currency you earn from enemies to survive longer, while the enemies gain specific stats and whole new abilities over time.

Features Include:

• Pixel-art style with some glow-y stuff and neat particle effects.
• Simple yet satisfying gunplay with punchy feedback, a unique secondary w/ rewarding synergy, and skill-check reloads.
  
• 2 character abilities: A dodge roll to avoid damage & even stun enemies, as well as a slow-motion ability that provide interesting counter-play and flow in combat.
• Semi-hardcore health & ammo system; no regeneration requires visits to health or ammo stations w/ discounts in-between waves. Indirectly rewards good play with more currency to spare for upgrades.
• 3 enemy types, each with multiple abilities and variants. 
  
• A boss fight at the end of every wave, also with multiple abilities
• Unique and fair difficulty scaling that rewards skill over luck
• Upgrade Station w/ 3 trees of unique mechanics-focused upgrades, allowing for satisfying playstyle expression and explosive new tools to master.
• "Mutation Station" that offers a suite of random upgrades of differing rarities (including a jackpot!), requiring empty slots to slot into and currency earned from bosses or enemy variants. The same mutation can stack multiple times, more slots can be earned, or mutations may be re-rolled, allowing you control over how you like your builds.
• Synthwave music that adapts to the pace of gameplay, making you feel like a smooth operator.. or maybe a little on-edge instead.

[ DISCLAIMER: This is an older build of an on-going project. There will be some bugs here and there, and the game is not feature complete (though has a solid core gameplay loop thus far). I'm currently working on porting this project to Unity with many changes, so this particular version will not be receiving updates, and therefore is also why it is free.
